Leisure and Convience
Just picture yourself in the most comfortable place you could ever be. What would you see maybe it’s a good old hammock on some sandy beach with just you, a nice cool beverage, and nature? Maybe that’s not your cup of tea maybe you are the more adventurous type and your comfortable place is hang gliding off of some random cliff. Whatever it may be all “comfortable places” will have one thing in common for sure and that one thing is invention of course. From the time that man was working toward some kind of goal there was also leisure, now leisure did not really require much I mean for the classic sleep addict all they would really need is some kind of bed they were comfortable and they would be set for life. Unfortunately not all people dance to the same tune so inventions were made. It’s not a tough concept to grasp really someone could be sitting in a chair and they think "you know this chair would be much better if it reclined or rocked or even massaged me while I was sitting in it." Just like that those things were born. Convenience is a big factor for invention too. What’s the old saying there just aren’t enough hours in the day? How about do you want it done fast or do you want it done right? With things like the modern cell phone, microwave ovens, and 200 mph bullet trains people will come to expect these kinds of things in their daily routine and who knows maybe one we will be passing the Jetsons with our cars that will fold up into a brief case and cool house cleaning robots named Rosey.

this was really cool. your blog posts really made me think. you really have to sometimes stop and marvel at all the things that we have here in the 21st century. i mean think about 100 years ago. the car was just being invented and introduced to society. i mean these things were pieces of junk yet people treasured them because they were so new and cool. i wonder what those people from 1908 would have thought if they knew that 100 years later, we would have cars that run on electricity and go 0 to 60 in 5 seconds or less. i mean it's just ridiculous how much inventions have progressed over the years..it makes me excited to think of what's to come :)
Good analysis most of what you said was essentially what I was going for. I really just thought I would point a few reasons as to why we have the things have. Everyone accepts the inventions of today, but few ever care to ask anything else.
My question is: if our inventions have come such a long way, why don't we have more fuel efficient cars? The technology exists for engines that get 70-80 miles an hour, but the patents were bought by oil companies, or so I've heard on numerous shows about fuel efficiency. I suppose I can't blame an inventor for totally wanting to cash in.
